Privacy Policy
We’re Carl and Ing, and Little Ing Wine Tours is our small business in Adelaide. This page explains what personal information we collect, what we do with it and who else sees it.
We only collect what we need to run your tour. We never sell it, and we don’t send newsletters or advertising.
What we collect
- When you book on our website: your name, email, phone number and pick-up address, the tour and date, how many of you are coming, and anything you write under Requests, such as dietary or access needs.
- When you pay online: the payment goes through Square. Your card details go straight to Square, and we never see or keep your card number.
- When you use the contact form on our FAQ page: your name, email, phone number if you give it, and your message. It reaches us as an email, and the website doesn’t keep a copy.
- When you call, text, email or message us on WhatsApp or Instagram: your number or account name, and whatever you tell us.
- When you book through a travel company or booking website: it passes on your name, contact details, pick-up details and booking, so we can run your tour.
- When you visit our website: the cookies and visit statistics described below.
How we use it
- To run your tour: picking you up, keeping in touch on the day, and booking cellar doors and lunch.
- To email you about your booking: the confirmation, a reminder the day before, a thank-you after your tour that asks for a review, and a note if anything changes.
- To answer your questions.
- To keep the records every business has to keep, such as for tax.
- To see how people use our website, so we can make it better, and whether our advertising works.
Who else sees it
We share your details only with the companies that help us run the business, and only what each one needs:
- Square handles card payments.
- Google holds our booking calendar, so your booking details are kept there too. Our website also uses Google Analytics and Google Fonts (see below).
- DreamIT Host, our web host, keeps our website, booking system and email on a server in Sydney.
- Backblaze keeps backup copies of our website, bookings included, in the United States.
- Wineries and restaurants we book for you get only what they need, such as how many of you are coming and any dietary needs.
We’d also pass on information if the law required it, for example to the police or the tax office. Google, Square and Backblaze may keep information outside Australia, mostly in the United States.
Cookies and Google Analytics
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Ours are:
- _ga and _ga_7KF8EC429J (Google Analytics): tell one visitor from another, so we can count visits. They last up to two years.
- wpconsent_preferences: remembers what you chose on our cookie banner, for 30 days.
- maz-resolved-color-mode (the booking form): remembers whether to show the form in light or dark colours, for a year.
Google Analytics shows us which pages people visit, how they found us, what kind of device they use and roughly where they are, by city or region. It also counts bookings made on the website (the tour, its price and the booking reference), questions sent from our FAQ page, and taps on our phone, WhatsApp and email links. It doesn’t give us your name or contact details, and we can’t tell who you are from it, except that a booking’s reference matches the booking we already have. Google explains what it does with the data in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
We sometimes advertise on Google. When you click one of our ads, Google Analytics notes that your visit came from the ad and whether you went on to book, so we can see whether the advertising is worth it. Google saves two cookies for this, which last 90 days. We don’t use your visits to show you our ads on other websites.
Google Analytics is on unless you turn it off: choose Reject on the cookie banner, or change your choice at any time with the button below. Google Analytics then stops saving cookies on your device. Your browser still tells Google, without cookies, that a page was viewed, and Google uses that to estimate visitor numbers. You can also install Google’s opt-out add-on in your browser.
Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, Square’s payment form on pages with the booking form, and emoji pictures from WordPress.org. Like any website you visit, these services see your IP address and the kind of browser you use.
Keeping it safe
The website uses an encrypted connection (https), and only the two of us look at your booking details. Our security software and our web host keep records of visits, such as IP addresses, for a short time to block attacks. To stop spam, the contact form also keeps a scrambled copy of your IP address for an hour.
How long we keep it
We keep booking records for five years, because Australian tax records have to be kept that long, and then delete them. We keep enquiries only as long as we need them. Anything we delete is gone from our backups within two weeks.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your details
Email or call us and we’ll tell you what we hold about you, fix anything that’s wrong, or delete it, apart from anything we have to keep for tax. It’s free, and we’ll reply within 30 days.
The reviews on our website are copied from our Google listing, with the name and photos the reviewer posted there. If you’d like your review, or a photo you’re in, taken off our website, just ask.
